Which case should I use?

  • Title Case for headlines and headings: every major word is capitalized, while short words such as a, of and the stay lowercase unless they come first or last.
  • Sentence case for UI labels and body text: only the first word of each sentence (and the pronoun I) is capitalized.
  • The separate Text Toolbox title and sentence options use that tool's existing word-splitting rules, which remove punctuation and can produce different results from the prose options.
  • camelCase for JavaScript/Java variables, PascalCase for class and component names, snake_case for Python and SQL, CONSTANT_CASE for environment variables and constants, and kebab-case for URLs, CSS classes and file names.
  • Programming cases convert each line separately, so you can paste a list of names and convert them all at once.
  • For slugify, sorting, de-duplicating lines or find and replace, open the Text Toolbox. To count words and characters, use the word counter.
