Q: Can I edit the shape of the mesh itself?

This editor works on whole objects: placement, rotation, scale, units, splitting into disconnected parts, and combining files. It does not sculpt or edit individual vertices. To change a design, use a CAD tool such as the OpenSCAD playground.

Q: How does Split into parts work?

It finds groups of triangles that share no vertices (separate shells), such as a set of pieces exported together, and turns each into its own object that you can move, delete or export alone.

Q: How is this different from the OpenSCAD playground?

OpenSCAD is code-first: you write a parametric design and compile it into one mesh. This workbench is file-first: it takes existing meshes and helps you inspect, convert and prepare them for printing.

Q: Why is my STL tiny or huge?

STL files store bare numbers without units, and slicers read them as millimeters. A model exported in inches shows up 25.4 times too small, and one exported in meters 1000 times too small. Use the Units buttons to convert it before printing or converting to 3MF.

Q: Are my files uploaded?

No. Files are read and processed by JavaScript in your browser tab, and downloads are generated locally. Nothing is sent to a server, so it also works with private or unreleased designs.

How it works

Open files or try the sample models. Each file or 3MF object is a separate object.
Select an object to set its position, rotation and scale, or use Rotate 90°, Lay flat, Duplicate, Split and Delete.
Watch the inspector for size, volume and mesh problems, and the plate for fit and overlap warnings.
Download a 3MF with every object separate, or an STL merged in plate positions. Undo and redo with Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z.
