Directory editorial policy
How tools get into the DevTools Daily Directory, what money can and cannot buy, and how we label paid placements.
What we list
- Real developer tools, libraries, services, and developer-focused learning resources.
- A working website that clearly explains what the product does.
- No casinos, gambling, crypto schemes, thin affiliate pages, or off-topic sites.
How review works
Every tool is researched before it is listed. We check whether it is actively maintained (recent commits and releases, archived repositories), how widely it is used (GitHub stars, package downloads), whether developers discuss it (Hacker News, Reddit, other curated lists), and whether its website works and describes it accurately. We also compare it with the alternatives in its category. An editor then approves or rejects the listing; some submissions are rejected.
Free submissions are always accepted into the queue and are reviewed every week, and we publish up to 10 new listings a week. To suggest a tool, submit it here. We may edit a listing's description for accuracy and tone, and we re-check listed tools periodically. Tools that are abandoned or superseded are removed.
Priority review
Priority review pays for speed only. It uses the same criteria as a free submission. Approval is not guaranteed, and because the fee pays for the review itself, it is non-refundable. A listing that passes priority review is identical to any other editorial listing. It gets no badge, no boost in ranking, and the same links.
Sponsored placements
- Sponsored listings must pass editorial review first. Money buys position, not approval.
- They appear in a separate group labeled Sponsored at the top of their category. Each category has at most three.
- Every link from a sponsored listing is marked
rel="sponsored", and it stays marked after the placement ends. - Placements are billed monthly and you can cancel at any time. When a placement ends, the listing returns to its normal alphabetical position.
No guarantees
We do not promise traffic, clicks, search rankings, or link equity, for any product. You are paying for review time or for a placement, not for an outcome.
Corrections and removal
Spot something wrong or out of date? Email us and we will fix it. We may remove any listing at any time if its target becomes spammy, malicious, or off-topic. No refunds are given once a listing is live.
