Better Auth is an open-source authentication and authorization framework for TypeScript that runs inside your own application and database. Features such as two-factor authentication, organizations, and SSO are added through plugins; an optional paid service adds a dashboard and audit logs. The team took over maintenance of Auth.js (NextAuth.js) in September 2025 and joined Vercel in July 2026.
